Our Wallet

Planet saving. Locally sourced.

We’re not world leaders. We’re not billionaires. We’re just a bunch of NSW South Coast locals tossing some cash into a pot each month, listening to clever green ideas, and picking a winner. Our Wallet turns our climate anxiety into action - one small, hope-filled gathering at a time. It’s low-key world-saving, with a side of snacks.

You donate - you decide.

How It Works

Step one: Get around it.
Subscribe with a monthly donation amount of your choice.
Step two: An in-person, hope-filled gathering
Each time we hit $3,000, we host a live event. Three local green projects present their ideas and you get to feel good about supporting them.
Step three: You vote
Decide where you think the money should go. Majority rules. The winner gets $2000 and the runners up get $500 each, no strings attached. We believe in trust-based funding. No grants, no red tape - just action.
Rinse and Repeat

Rules

Just one really - no remote voting. If you can't attend the event, send a proxy or just trust the group to decide for you.

If you live in a share house with a broken front door and a possum problem, $10/month will do.

This project is brought to you by a South Coast local who spends way too much time thinking about how humans can stay sane in the middle of a climate crisis. I’ve just wrapped up a Churchill Fellowship travelling the world to study climate psychology, and before that I wrote a master’s thesis in positive psychology which was basically about hope (because we’re going to need a lot of it). I’ve also run a mental health charity for the past eight years, which taught me that community is the best antidote to despair. Long story short: I believe the future is hopeful - especially if we all pitch in to change the story we tell about climate change. My name is Avalon, by the way. Thanks for joining Our Wallet.
